Kanlayanee Si Thammarat School

Kanlayanee schoolKanlayanee Si Thammarat school is located in Nakhon Si Thammarat in Southern Thailand.

We understand that some (a minority) of the teachers at this school regularly hit the students, especially those in the younger primary age groups. In particular one female teacher, Ms Phasuk (นางผาสุข ถาวร) a P.E teacher at the school.

We are told that the majority of teachers do not hit the children, and indeed that they hate the teachers who do this. However they refuse to do anything to stop it and, in our opinion, this makes them equally guilty by association.

We are also told that the beatings only occur in the Thai Programme and not in the English Programme of the school. However the two programmes are part of the SAME school and therefore, in our opinion, equally guilty for refusing to protect ALL the children in the school.

The school organises regular student exchange schemes to the USA and we are currently finding out who the agencies are in the USA and will be notifying them accordingly.

  1. I graduated from Kanlayanee four years ago. I still see this teacher from time to time and although she smile at me I turn my back. I will never forgive her for what she did and will never think about this school when I have childs of my own.

    • Patcha, thank you for that. We believe that many teachers simply have no idea how much the kids hate them. We have several statements from former students at Kanlayanee (only a few from current students who are scared) and all of them say the same thing. This teacher has lost all the respect of the kids and many, like you, truly despise her now and will never forgive her.

  3. Aj Phisuk is strict but she also kind. She only beat the students when they make a mistake.

    • Koy – thank you for the confirmation. The point is it is ILLEGAL so it is irrelevant whether the students have done something wrong or not. If students break the rules then yes, they deserve to be punished but NOT by illegal means. If students are punished for breaking the rules why do teachers think its OK for them to break the law??

  4. We now have the names of two other teachers who do this at Kanlayanee. It is no surprise that like Phasuk they are both P.E teachers. We still need to get some more hard evidence but we will publish the names as soon as we have that.

  5. I will graduate from knep next year. Be very gk
Lad to leave to enter the 21st century at last! The haircut rules are stupid and the teaching is very old fashion.
